SAUSAGE SODAS AND ONION BHAJIS AT THE SANCTUARY THEATRE THIS WEEKEND

Here at Women in Media Belfast we are concerned with amplifying women’s different and varied voices.

Writer and broadcaster Lata Sharma’s one hour, one woman play "Sausage Sodas and Onion Bhajis", is showing at the Sanctuary Theatre in east Belfast this Saturday, November 29 & Sunday November 30.

"Sausage Sodas and Onion Bhajis is a spirited, light-hearted, humorous and at times tragic story set predominantly in East Belfast!

“Looking through the eyes of a teenage Indian girl born and raised (or reared) during the Troubles, the audience will discover how she navigates the sectarianism of the time, the racism, and not forgetting of course the natural teenage angst, cultural clashes from within the family home, including with the Indian community that lived here from the 1950s, all because she desperately wants to ‘fit in’.

“Lata describes this as her honest love letter to the people of Northern Ireland."
